Sound Healing

Clear blocked energy and release stress

Your body is made up of trillions of cells that vibrate at different frequencies…

The thoughts you think and your surroundings all have a vibration that affects you on a physiological level.

The higher your vibration, the easier it is to heal and access positive states like ease, calm, peace, joy, and balance.

Raise your vibration through the power of sound healing!

What is sound healing?

Sound has been used as a method of healing for centuries in cultures around the world. Healers, yogis, monks, and shamans use sound to enter higher states of consciousness. This helps create greater balance in the mind and body, bringing healing and spiritual growth.

Sound healing can be performed through chanting, singing, kirtan, and a range of instruments such as gongs, crystal bowls, bells, or drums.

Sound is a form of energy that carries information. Each sound wave vibrates at a different frequency. Our hearts and brains pick up on the vibration of everything around us. If the vibrations around us are positive and high, the cells in our bodies will naturally vibrate at a higher frequency. This is a property called entrainment.

Through sound healing, you can raise your vibration, rebalance your nervous system, and create a greater sense of ease.

What are the benefits of sound healing?

As you release stress and negativity from your mind, the body can channel its newfound energy towards restoring wellness. This boosts mental, emotional, and spiritual health, helping to:

  • Reduce stress and fatigue

  • Increase creativity and intuition

  • Clear mental chatter

A study published in the Journal of Evidence-Based Integrative Medicine from 2016 showed that after a Tibetan singing bowl meditation, participants experienced less tension, fatigue, depressed mood, and great spiritual well-being.

How does sound healing work?

Sound healing creates an environment where your body can release energetic blocks because your mind comes to rest. When you’re immersed in the higher frequencies of instruments like gongs, chimes or crystal singing bowls, your brainwaves enter relaxing and meditative states like alpha and theta.

On an energetic level, the sounds of the instruments creates a highly coherent and rhythmic pattern. Through entrainment, the vibrations of the more coherent object (the instrument) bring order to a less coherent object - like a stressed out brain.

What makes sound healing so powerful is that it puts you into a deeper state without any effort on your part. The natural process of the sound’s vibration aligns you on a physical, mental, emotional and spiritual level.

If you’re in a stressful environment or struggle with negative thinking, your body vibrates at a lower frequency.

When you feel relaxed and connected to something greater, your body vibrates at a higher frequency.

What is a sound bath?

A sound bath is a relaxing experience where you immerse in the soothing vibrational qualities of healing instruments like:

  • Gongs

  • Crystal (Tibetan) singing bowls

  • Chimes

  • Tuning forks

  • Tingsha (Tibetan) bells

  • Koshi chimes

  • Conch shells

  • Drums

A sound bath usually starts with a meditation to help you relax. You’re then guided into a state of receptivity as you enjoy the sound of the instruments around you.

When done in person, this experience can be very powerful as you feel the sound waves reverberating through your body. Stress melts away and you let go of what no longer serves you.

What Is Kirtan?

Kirtan is a form of meditation that uses mantras and chants to release negativity and celebrate the good within. The mantras are in Sanskrit, having been passed down from sages and masters.

Each mantra calls upon a certain divine quality that we all naturally have within - such as love, compassion, kindness, patience, trust. This can help you embody that quality as it’s brought into your awareness.

Kirtan can take the form of call and response where one recites the mantra and the rest of the group repeats it. This is often accompanied by the sound of the harmonium.

Participating in a kirtan session can help you open your heart, feel greater compassion for yourself and others, and feel a greater sense of connection to the divine.
