What is hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy helps guide you into a state of hypnosis where you can access deeper layers of the mind to resolve trauma, pain, fears or negative habits at the root level.

Many of the negative beliefs, habits, and fears we have often stem from an unconscious or subconscious level. Here’s the problem with that: we’re unaware of what we’re unaware of. 

Do you ever wonder why you keep doing something that you know isn’t good for you? Or why certain stressful thoughts, fears, or negative feelings come up again and again for no apparent reason?

There’s a neurobiological reason for this as you will learn on this page. Hypnotherapy can help address these behaviors or pains at this deeper level.

Hypnosis and hypnotherapy has been shown to be effective in reducing or eliminating:

How does hypnotherapy work?

Our negative habits, thought patterns, and emotions can feel like they’re a “part” of us because they are. They become ingrained in our brain. The neural networks associated with them become stronger each time we repeat these behaviors or mental patterns.

What we practice most - mentally and physically - solidifies the neural networks that cause these behaviors. 

Your brain basically creates a shortcut that makes it easier to do what you’ve always done...to think and feel the way you’ve thought and felt in the past. The good thing is that thanks to neuroplasticity, you can change that.

Breaking negative habits means breaking neural connections caused by years of conditioning or deeply rooted past trauma. Hypnotherapy can help you identify, recognize, and work through these so you no longer hold onto things that don’t serve your highest good.

Is there a difference between hypnosis and hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy is a tool. Hypnosis is a state. If you’ve ever gotten so into a book or movie that you completely blocked out what was happening around you, or worried about something, you’ve been in a state of hypnosis.

In hypnotherapy, a hypnotherapist brings you into a state of hypnosis by guiding you into a deep state of relaxation.

Does a hypnotherapist have the ability to control your behavior?

Despite the videos you may see of people on stage clucking like chickens, when you work with a certified hypnotherapist, you don’t have to worry about doing anything you don’t want to do. 

You are completely in control and aware for the entire session.

Your conscious mind may be at rest but your awareness is still functional.

You’re still the one who has control over which thoughts, beliefs, behaviors, or actions you want to explore or take while you’re under hypnosis.

Does hypnosis work for everyone?

While hypnotherapy can bring benefits to most people, those who are more suggestible might experience greater benefits than those who are less suggestible. One’s susceptibility to hypnosis can be gauged as high, medium, or low. According to research, about 80% of the population are medium, 10% are high and 10% are low.

Our Hypnotherapists are highly skilled at adapting to each clients unique needs within the sessions. They are able to break through conscious interference, helping you to get the most out of each session.

What should I expect in a hypnotherapy session? 

When you go into a hypnotherapy session, you will usually be lying down so you can be fully comfortable. We lead you to a deep state of relaxation using guided visualizations. Once you’re in this relaxed state of mind, your brain enters the alpha state where the doors to the unconscious open.

You become more open to internalizing suggestions. Your conscious mind is out of the way and you’re not distracted by external events or circumstances. This is similar to how you internalized things when you were little.

Until about age 7, our brains are mostly in an alpha state…

This means we’re more susceptible to absorbing information from others. It’s how we learn which behaviors provide a reward and which ones could hurt us...like putting our hand on a hot stove.

Once you’re in the alpha or theta brainwave state, we focus your attention on the thoughts, beliefs, or behaviors you want to address. Because you are in a safe environment with our support, we can explore memories or traumas that might normally be repressed from your conscious mind. We then work through them together so you feel a greater sense of clarity, peace, and ease.

What Is Past Life Regression?

Past life regression uses hypnosis to help you recall memories from a past life so you can release unconscious traumas and associated energetic blocks.

It uses the same principles as hypnotherapy but is more focused on addressing fears or pains that seem to have no logical cause in this lifetime.

Maybe you know someone who’s afraid to swim but has never had any bad experiences related to swimming in this lifetime? Or someone who’s afraid of fire but has never had any deep negative experiences with fire?

In either case, there could be a possibility that these fears somehow stem from a prior lifetime that their conscious mind is unaware of. Bringing these fears into the conscious mind and working through them can be the first step to releasing them.
